Following our first FAQ article, we’ve gathered another round of frequently asked questions about OBDSTAR ECU MASTER. This time, we cover checksum correction, truck software, Mercedes-Benz support, China-specific ECU functions, and internet requirements.
Q1: Does OBDSTAR ECU MASTER Support Checksum Correction?
A1: Yes.
OBDSTAR ECU MASTER supports checksum correction for more than 90% of supported ECU types, helping ensure modified files can be written back safely after reading or cloning operations.
This feature is especially useful for ECU tuning, repair, and cloning applications.
Q2: Will Commercial Vehicle Functions Be Added to KEYMASTER G3?
A2: At present, Configuration C (Commercial Vehicle License) is available only for OBDSTAR ECU MASTER.
There are currently no official plans to bring this license to KEYMASTER G3 platform.
However, OBDSTAR states that future development will depend on market demand and customer feedback. If commercial vehicle support is added to G3 later, additional adapters will likely be required.
For now, ECU MASTER remains the dedicated platform for commercial vehicle programming.
Q3: Will KEYMASTER G3 and ECU MASTER Continue to Develop Together?
A3: Yes.
Although one platform is tablet-based (OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3) and the other is PC-based (ECU MASTER), OBDSTAR plans to keep both product lines developing in parallel.
Whenever possible, software functions and protocol coverage will remain consistent across both platforms, while each device continues serving different workshop requirements.
Q4: Does ECU MASTER Support Mercedes-Benz SIM4LKE and Newer Models?
A4: Not yet.
Support for Mercedes-Benz SIM4LKE and related models is already included in OBDSTAR’s development roadmap.
Users who require additional Mercedes-Benz functions are encouraged to submit requests to help prioritize future updates.
Q5: Are More China-Specific ECU Functions Coming?
A5: Yes.
OBDSTAR confirms that several highly requested functions are currently being released in stages, including:
- IMMO OFF for MT22.3 and MT62 ECUs
- TCU cloning for Chery, DFSK, Geely, and Jeep
- Read/Write support for MG1UA008
- Read/Write support for MG1US008
- Read/Write support for MD1CS019
- Checksum correction for these ECUs
These functions will become available through future software updates as development progresses.
Q6: Can OBDSTAR ECU MASTER Work Offline?
A6: No. A continuous internet connection is required while using ECU MASTER.
Without an active internet connection, many online services and programming functions will not be available, limiting the tool’s overall functionality.
For the best user experience, OBDSTAR recommends maintaining a stable network connection throughout the programming process.
