OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3, also known as the KeyMaster G3 in some markets, is a powerful diagnostic and programming tool capable of handling advanced transmission control module (TCM) functions on Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In this demonstration, the device is used to read and reset a VGS4-500-NAG2 TCM to its virgin state using JTAG mode together with MP001 programmer and the C4-08 Adapter Kit.
To begin, ensure that X300 Classic G3 / KeyMaster G3 is updated to the latest software version. Enter ECU Flasher → TCM and use the search bar to quickly locate the correct module. Before starting, review the built-in guide, which includes warm reminders, function descriptions, and detailed wiring instructions for both BENCH and JTAG modes.
Following the guide, drill the required access points on the TCM board and connect using either the W013 harness or the dedicated TCM-014 cable for faster setup. Open the wiring diagram to confirm each connection according to the PCB layout.
With the wiring complete, return to the menu and select JTAG mode. The G3 system will read the ECU information, including hardware version, software version, and current VIN. Save the original data to a custom filename for backup. When resetting the module to its virgin state, the VIN will change to “AAA…“, confirming successful initialization.
For cloning operations, simply load the target file and perform data transfer. After writing, you can compare the history VIN with the current VIN. If needed, use the Write VIN function to program a new VIN and verify that it has been stored correctly.
