OBDSTAR DC706 Set ECT on BMW MEVD17.2.3 B38 ECM Bench Mode

In this post, we walk through the complete bench-mode process to set the coolant temperature to 90°C on a BMW MEVD17.2.3 B38 ECM using the OBDSTAR DC706.

Required Tools:
OBDSTAR DC706 or Keymaster G3
High-power DC regulated power supply
Main cable
OBDSTAR ECU clone jumper
MP001 programmer
BMW MEVD17.2.3 B38 ECM

Steps:
1. Update Software
Before starting, ensure your OBDSTAR DC706 software is updated to the latest version for full compatibility and access to the newest functions.

2. Launch ECU Flasher
Open the [ECU Flasher] application on the OBDSTAR DC706 and select Passenger Car > ECM.

3. Locate the Model
Use the search box in the top-right corner to quickly find the BMW MEVD17.2.3 B38 model.

4. Review the Guide
Tap the [Guide] section and carefully read the warnings, menu descriptions, operation instructions, connection methods, and special notes.

5. Check Pinout
Go to [Pinout], select BENCH mode, and verify that the module appearance matches the diagram.

6. Connect the ECU
Follow the displayed [Connector Pinout] to properly wire the BMW MEVD17.2.3 B38 ECM to the DC706 programmer.

7. Establish Connection
After wiring is complete, tap [Start] and establish the ECU connection.

8. Backup Data
Always create a full data backup first. You can customize the file name, and the storage location will be shown on the left side of the OBDSTAR DC706 interface.

9. Set Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)
Directly execute the [Set ECT Engine Coolant Temperature] function.
Select the correct calibration file – the OBDSTAR DC706 will automatically adjust the coolant temperature value to 90°C.

10. Completion
Once the device displays “Write Successfully,” the configuration is complete.
