OBDSTAR MT203 is designed primarily for gateway simulation and CAN driver testing. Before purchasing it for ECU bench testing or other diagnostic tasks, please review its capabilities and limitations below.
1. Can MT203 Test Bosch EDC16 and EDC17 Engine ECUs?
MT203 supports gateway simulation and CAN driver testing using three protocols: standard CAN, fault-tolerant CAN, and CAN FD.
However, it does not support independently adding custom CAN messages. Whether it is suitable for a specific ECU bench test depends on the test requirements. For example, it does not support testing ECU drivers, so it may not meet requirements involving those functions.
2. Which Engine ECU Brands and Models Are Supported?
MT203 supports the modules listed in its official CAN driver compatibility list. Please refer to that list to confirm whether your specific ECU, vehicle brand, or model is supported.

Compatibility should be verified against the actual module and required testing function before purchase.
3. Does MT203 Support Immobilizer or Start Unlocking?
No. MT203 does not support immobilizer functions or engine start unlocking. Its main purpose is gateway simulation and CAN driver testing, rather than key programming or anti-theft system operations.
OBDSTAR MT203 is intended for specific gateway simulation and CAN driver testing applications. It supports standard CAN, fault-tolerant CAN, and CAN FD, but does not support custom CAN message creation, ECU driver testing, or immobilizer/start unlocking. Always check the compatibility list and confirm your intended test requirements before purchasing.
