I want to know if the moto master can change the vin on a bmw R1250 used TFT because it has a vin number and if it does not Match the ECU it will not program
OBDSTAR MOTOMASTER is an advanced motorcycle diagnostic tool supporting BMW models with features like full-system diagnostics, automatic VIN recognition (reading only), ECU flashing, instrument cluster coding, odometer recalibration (dump mode), IMMO key programming, and service reset.
However, according to the latest official OBDSTAR support lists and update logs (as of December 2025), MOTOMASTER Motorcycle Scanner does not support VIN writing or modification on BMW R1250 motorcycles, including used TFT dashboards.
Reasons include:
- VIN functions are limited to reading for identification.
- No “Write VIN” option exists for BMW, unlike some other brands (e.g., Harley-Davidson).
- BMW’s strict security and legal restrictions prevent third-party tools from altering VINs, which are stored across multiple modules.
Used BMW R1250 TFT clusters often require VIN matching for ECU programming, but OBDSTAR MOTOMASTER scanner cannot change the VIN. Official BMW tools like ISTA are recommended instead. Always verify the latest support PDF.
